Dental implants are titanium screws used in the treatment of missing teeth, placed in the jawbone and serving as artificial tooth roots. Dental implant applications include various surgical and restorative procedures used to replace missing teeth or restore toothless areas. With the prostheses placed on these screws, the function and aesthetics of the lost teeth are regained.
What are the Most Commonly Used Implant Applications?
Single Tooth Implants
Single tooth implants are one of the most common implant applications used to replace a single missing tooth. In this application, a single crown or porcelain bridge prosthesis is placed on an implant placed in the jawbone.
Multiple Dental Implants
It is an implant application used for patients with more than one missing tooth. Depending on the number and location of missing teeth, implants are placed and a bridge prosthesis or implant-supported removable prosthesis is applied.
Edentulous Oral Implants
Implant application in completely toothless mouths is used to replace all the teeth of edentulous patients. It is usually applied with techniques such as “All-On-Four” or “All-On-Six”, in which a fixed prosthesis is fixed using several implants.
Implant Applications with Bone Graft
If the jawbone is not of sufficient thickness or density, the volume of the jawbone can be increased by first applying a bone graft. Implants are then placed and prostheses are fitted following the healing process.
Implant Applications with Sinus Lift
If there is insufficient bone volume in the upper jaw posterior tooth area, jaw bone volume can be increased by performing a sinus lift. After this procedure, implants are placed.
All-On-Four Implant Applications
In completely edentulous patients, a fixed prosthesis is attached to one or both jaws using four implants. It is the method used in cases where all teeth are missing in the lower or upper jaw. All teeth are restored simultaneously with a fixed prosthesis placed on 4 implants. This method allows patients to quickly obtain aesthetic and functional teeth.
All-On-Six Implant Applications
It is the method used in completely edentulous patients, in cases where all teeth are missing in the lower or upper jaw. A fixed prosthesis is attached to one or both jaws using four implants. All teeth are restored simultaneously with a fixed prosthesis placed on 6 implants. This method allows patients to quickly obtain aesthetic and functional teeth.
Immediate Load Technique
It is the process of fitting temporary dentures on the same day the implants are placed. This method allows patients to recover quickly in terms of aesthetics and functionality.
Zygomatic Implants
It is the method applied to patients who do not have sufficient bone tissue. Teeth are restored with special implants placed in the cheekbone.
Basal Implants
It is the method applied to patients who do not have sufficient bone tissue. Teeth are restored with special implants that can be placed in areas with low bone density.
The selection of dental implant applications is made according to the extent of the patient’s missing teeth, the condition of the jawbone and general health condition. Dental implant applications can be applied in various ways depending on the patient’s needs and condition. The most appropriate treatment plan for each patient should be evaluated in detail by a dentist or implant surgeon.
